Title
Untitled (Frank Rizzo At A Press Conference)
Subject
Police Commissioner Frank Rizzo
Description
Then-Police Commissioner Frank Rizzo addresses the media at a press conference. As Commissioner, Rizzo was devoted to putting criminals behind bars using whatever means necessary. These harsh tactics and his larger-than-life personality made him instantly popular with a majority of the city. He portrayed himself as a man committed to addressing the long-ignored issue of violent crime in the city. Yet, he also demanded unquestioned loyalty from his subordinates. Perhaps the framing of this photo is intentional: "Philadelphia Police: Honor. Service. Frank Rizzo."
